PPF prevents damage from tree spa, dirt and debris, rocks chips, sand or bugs.

Paint Protection Film: The Complete Rundown

If you have recently purchased a new car or have had multi-stage paint correction done, it is important to protect it from dirt, road grime, bugs, and birds.

While there are several waxes, paint sealants, and ceramic coatings available in the market to do this, they may not be enough to protect your car from scuffs, scratches, and stone chips.

Daily use of your car will inevitably lead to gradual wear and tear, especially if you have long commutes or frequent road trips, which can cause mechanical damage to your car's paint. In such cases, you need a paint protection film to ensure your car's paint stays protected.

Paint Protection Film, known as Clear Bra, is a transparent, extremely durable layer of protection that helps prevent damage and prolong the life of the paint on your vehicle.

When applied to a vehicle, it becomes a second skin to the body panels, shielding the paint against mechanical damage like scratches, dings, and paint chips, as well as UV and chemical erosion.

Durable Protection

The goal of PPF is to protect your paint from damage caused by the outside elements. You save the paint from swirls, scratches, dirt, and debris.

Hydrophobic

Acid rain, bird droppings, tar, or bugs, PPF does a fantastic job repelling any elements so it doesn’t etch into your paint. When washing, it will look good as new.

Glossy Finish

With all its protection, it also comes with a shiny appearance. Give your vehicle like new condition!

This means paint protection film is the ultimate defense against the elements, which are acid rain, rocks, sand, harsh dirt, road debris, bugs, and bird dropping. An excellent benefit is self-healing minor scratches and swirls with the top coat, durable protection from the elements, and a glossy finish!

A 10-year limited guarantee covers our self-healing, hydrophobic Llumar Platinum PPF. It offers a premium glossy or matte finish to prevent stains and keep your automobile looking its best.

What is the difference between a Coating and PPF?

Paint protection film and ceramic coatings are both designed to protect your vehicle's appearance. However, the differences between them are quite significant.

The primary benefit of a paint protection film is that it can protect your car from chips, scuffs, and scratches caused by road debris.

On the other hand, ceramic coatings cannot offer this level of protection. The added liquid polymer layer does not act as a shield against rocks and other debris while driving. Another difference between the two is that ceramic coatings provide a glossy sheen and offer water-repellent properties.

While paint protection film can also come with a lustrous sheen, it is generally transparent, and it has no effect on the appearance of your vehicle, nor does it repel water.

Finally, ceramic coatings make it much easier to clean your vehicle. The water-repellent qualities keep debris, grime, and dirt from sticking to your car's exterior. In contrast, a paint protection film cannot repel water, so cleaning it requires the same effort as cleaning an unprotected car.

Paint Protection Film FAQS

Do I need to polish and correct my paint?

It is highly recommended to get a paint correction before installing Paint Protection Film (PPF). Some shops may try to dissuade you from getting it, as the PPF's adhesive can hide defects.

However, most PPF installers do not offer paint correction due to lack of experience, and they would have to wait until the work is done before installing PPF.

Therefore, these shops or dealerships may not offer or recommend it because they don't want to wait. Applying PPF over scratched or swirled paint will result in a loss of gloss.

If you skip the paint correction process, especially if you are getting front end coverage, the front end will look swirl-free, while the rest of the vehicle will have scratches and swirls all over it.

How long does it take to install ppf?

Paint protection is not an inexpensive service. As it is commonly said, "you get what you pay for." This is especially true for paint protection film. The risk of having an amateur install the film is not worth the potential damage to your car, which can result in costly repairs.

We understand that the cost of paint protection film can be daunting, and it may seem like you are paying for a simple piece of clear plastic that resembles saran wrap.

However, the quality of the film significantly affects its price, and we want to help you understand why. There are four primary factors that affect the cost of installing paint protection film: pricing, quality, the type of car, and the area of the car being covered.
